The gear ratio was calculated to get maximum power even out of extremely tuned engines. Thanks to the high quality and sophisticated design of the components, it ensures fast, precise engagement of the gears and thus enables particularly smooth gear changes. 

The first gears are extended, the final gears are shortened. The longer first gear has been combined with closely spaced other gears so that the right transmission ratio is always found and the performance drop between gears is minimized.
