The rotor has some holes to reduce weight; Malossi took care to maintain perfect balancing, though. The advantage of a lighter rotor is that the motor can rev up more easily and acceleration will be improved. This weight reduction is particularly noticeable in weaker engines, for exampling taking off at traffic lights can happen much quicker.
